ANOTHER massive array of breeds and genetic diversity awaits buyers with the two day annual February All Breeds Bull and Female Sale, CQLX, February 17th and 18th where 567 head have been catalogued.
The sale traditionally heralds the commencement of the stud stock selling calendar for central Queensland for the year and the 2015 offering encompasses 13 individual breeds and their composites.
Selling agents, Elders and Landmark have combined to host a catalogue that contains a vendor address list from all over Queensland and New South Wales.
Selling action commences on Tuesday, March 17th commences at 8am with an offering of 157 red and grey Brahman bulls followed by 15 used Brahman sires. The Brahman section concludes with an offering of 47 females. The remainder of the first days trade is a catalogue of 64 Brangus bulls.
The second and final day, Wednesday, March 18th also commencing at 8am, witnesses an offering representing 12 individual breeds of bulls and their composites.
The mammoth genetic selection kicks off with a catalogue offering of 73 Droughtmaster bulls, followed by a single Droughtmaster/Murray Grey composite, 33 Santa Gertrudis, 2 Braford, eight Senepol, 11 Limousin, four Blonde d’ Aquitaine, 30 Angus and 49 Simmental males together with four Simbrah and 39 Charbray males. The final breed on offer is the Charolais with a section of 30 males to complete the event.
Last year the sale bulls top at $10,000 on the way to a gross of $936,500.
In all 250 bulls averaged $3484 while 44 females set a medium of $1511 to end in a 61 percent clearance at auction. Even on a depressed market clearance levels for males improved by four percent with the female clearance remaining virtually the same.
Male sale honours went to the Brahman and Simmental breeds at $10,000, while the Brangus breed saw a top of $8000 and Droughtmasters at $7000. Angus topped at $6000 on two occasions.
