CONFIDENCE in the bull market is riding high, producing stellar results at this year’s Rockhampton Brahman Week Sale.
From big sellers to big buyers, volume customers and Charles Darwin University representatives Jessica Beckhouse and Troy Johnson brought two bulls for a total of $13 000.
The impressive line-up of grey and red Brahman bulls saw a strong gathering of vendors and buyers with the CDU pair bidding $8000 for a Fenech bull.
“The bull displayed great length and balance with a sturdy frame,” Ms Beckhouse said.
“At 25 months old the bull shows exceptional grey colouring.”
Contesting the red bull market was a registered Kariobe Valley’s bull who featured plenty of natural thickness and great depth of body.
“We purchased the Kariobe Valley bull for $5000 with the plan to introduce more red into our current stud herd,” Ms Beckhouse said.
“We think he’s perfect for the Top End, exceptionally thick, long and smooth.”
Known for their high quality of stud CDU are planning to further their breed by improving their draft.
“We have been experiencing a few problems with our stud cattle lately therefore we are hoping our two new additions will help fix and further our breeds.”
“Their good genetics, moderate frame, magnificent polled sire’s heads as well as clean neck and shoulders, will benefit our current breeding programs.”
The North Queensland Register will have more news in the October 16 issue with bull sales wrapping up yesterday.
