Charters Towers combined agents yarded a total of 965 cattle on Wednesday, consisting of 651 prime cattle and 314 store cattle.
The prime cattle consisted of 83 bullocks, 24 heifers, 478 cows and 66 bulls.

Store cattle consisted of 175 steers, 39 heifers and 23x23 cows and calves.
Cattle presented today were predominantly fair quality with some very good quality Brahman steers and heifers.
There was a firm panel of buyers with most of the usual processors and restockers in attendance encouraged by the recent widespread rainfall.
The yarding was drawn from Hughenden, Richmond, Georgetown, Mt Garnett, Croydon as well as local and coastal areas.

Bullocks were quoted 15c dearer, heifers were 10c dearer, cows were 5c dearer and bulls were 10c dearer on last week's rates.
Steers and bullocks under 500kg sold to 508c and averaged 423c, and those over 500kg topped at 420c to average 416c. Heifers under 540kg sold to 414c and averaged 407c. Cows under 400kg made 338c and averaged 286c, while cows over 400kg reached 344c, averaging 325c. Bulls under 450kg made 398c and averaged 374c, while bulls over 450kg reached 350c to average 346c.
Bullocks topped at 420c for six head sold on a/c JG Cann and KF, JM, TM Whitten that weighed 548kg to return $2304/hd. Best priced trade heifers were presented on a/c JG Cann and KF, JM, TM Whitten that sold for 414c, weighing 479kg to return $1982/hd.
The top pen of cows was sold on a/c Condon Grazing for 344c, weighing 570kg to return $1961/hd. A good run of Cunningham Cattle Co PTIC cows topped at $1708/hd. Bulls sold on a/c Cunningham Cattle Co topped at 344c and weighed 720kg, to return $2406/hd.

Due to competition from outside of the district, store steers and heifers were up 25c/hd on last week.
Steers under 200kg reached 644c to average 639c, steers 200 - 320kg sold to 644c, averaging 549c, and steers 320 - 400kg topped at 434c and averaged 414c. Mickeys under 450kg sold to 630c, averaging 422c. Heifers under 200kg topped at 488c and averaged 453c, heifers 200 - 320kg sold to 492c, averaging 452c, and heifers over 320kg made 410c to average 409c.
A pen of 17 steers a/c Condon Grazing made 630c and weighed 258kg to return $1623/hd. A good pen of 20 heifers on a/c DJ and KA Sheahan made 492c weighed 259kg returning $1272/hd. 23x23 cows and calves sold on a/c RJ Priestly returned $2350/unit.
