Charters Towers combined agents yarded a total of 2796 cattle on Wednesday, consisting of 1763 prime and 999 store cattle.
The prime cattle consisted of 961 bullocks, 113 heifers, 450 cows and 239 bulls. Store cattle consisted of 361 steers, 638 heifers and 34 cows and calves.
Cattle consisted of good lines of ox that were made up of grain-fed and grass-fed bullocks and a fair yarding of bulls were on hand also.
The yarding was drawn from Richmond and west as well as Greenvale North along with normal runs of coastal cattle.

Bullocks were quoted 2c dearer, heifers were 10c dearer, cows were 5c dearer and bulls were 5c dearer on last week's rates.
Steers and bullocks under 500kg sold to 494c and averaged 451c, and those over 500kg topped at 480c to average 438c. Heifers over 440kg topped at 476c, averaging 429c. Cows under 400kg made 398c and averaged 344c, while cows over 400kg reached 396c, averaging 372c. Bulls under 450kg made 480c and averaged 423c, while bulls over 450kg reached 410c to average 372c.
Bullocks topped at 448c for 11 bullocks on a/c Hinrichsen Past Co that weighed 580kg to return $2599/hd. Best priced trade heifers were presented on a/c DJ and MM Fryer that sold for 476.2c, weighing 403kg to return $1918/hd. The top pen of cows was sold by SA Steadmen for 396.2c, weighing 606kg to return $2401/hd. Bulls sold on a/c Brabon topped at 372.2c and weighed 690kg, to return $2568/hd.

Store cattle were made up of mixed lines that were met by a strong panel of buyers, selling to similar rates of the store sale on November 19.
Steers under 200kg reached 728c to average 672c, steers 200 - 320kg sold to 750c, averaging 532c, steers 320 - 400kg topped at 534c and averaged 494c and steers over 400kg sold to 486c to average 444c. Mickeys under 400kg sold to 518c, averaging 494c. Heifers under 200kg topped at 658c and averaged 553c, heifers 200 - 320kg sold to 568c, averaging 493c, and heifers 320 - 370kg made 470c to average 431c.
A pen of steers a/c Traxford made 728c and weighed 160kg to return $1165/hd. A good pen of 16 heifers on a/c GE and MC Whalan made 658.2c weighed 196kg returning $1348/hd. Two x two cows and calves sold a/c of J and S Beak returned $2850/unit.
