Droughtmaster/ Charolais cross weaner heifers reach 626c at Emerald

With an increase in numbers after the recent rain, Emerald agents yarded just over 1450 head on Thursday.

With a good to fair quality yarding of cattle on offer once again mostly all categories came under strong competition.



Heavy bullocks made to 462c, 500-550kg steers reached 492c to average 472c, steers 400-500kg topped at 538c, steers 350-400kg reached 556c, 280-350kg types made to 694c, while steers in the weaner weight ranges made to 722c to average 684c.

Heavy heifers over 400kg topped at 518c to average 460c, 280-350kg types topped at 562c and the weaner weight ranges made to 626c. Cows over 520kg topped at 421c while 450-520kg types topped at 416c.


The Barlow family, Amaroo, Comet, sold Brangus cross steers to 690c to weigh 277kg to return $1913. The Rowe family, Buffel Park, Moranbah, sold Brahman steers reaching 692c to weigh 270kg and returned $1874. The Sibson family, Cotherstone, Dysart, sold Brahman cows to 416c to weigh 568kg and $2364.

Hastings Hawkins, Serpentine, Willows, sold Droughtmaster cows to 420c to weigh 635kg and returned $2668. The Daniels family, Plainfield, Gindie, consigned Santa/ Charolais cross heifers to 460c and weighed 421kg to return $1937. The Schwarz family, Juanita, Fernless, offered Droughtmaster/ Charolais cross heifers reaching 626c to weigh 252kg or $1581.
