The Weir Recreation Ski Park north of Charters Towers has reopened, with skiing and boat enthusiasts able to hit the water once again.
The area had been closed off earlier in the year after heavy rain caused damage to the guidance buoys in the river, and to the infrastructure around the access point at Dave Chapman Park.
The park had officially opened for recreational use back in 2019, and since then has remained a popular spot for tourists and locals to unwind and enjoy a spot of fishing or a lap behind the boat.
Cr Graham Lohmann, whose portfolio includes community facilities, said the park was closed following the significant rain event earlier in the year as it posed a safety risk for users.
"Marine Safety Queensland and Council have worked hard to ensure the section of river is safe to use again, with a marine surveyor completing an assessment of the area," he said.
"Although everything has been done to ensure user safety, it's up to the community to be responsible on the water and to understand the risks when skiing.
"We encourage everyone to get out and use it again in a safe and responsible manner."
All activities will be regulated by Maritime Safety Queensland, with designated areas of operation displayed at the boat ramp.
