Freight rail into PoM drops again

ROAD CONCERN: Opposition agriculture spokesman Peter Walsh says farmers fear regional roads in the north-west will continue to be "smashed" due to the failure to finish the Murray Basin Rail Project.

Rail's market share of freight containers into the Port of Melbourne has plummeted to a new low of just over six per cent, according to the latest figures from the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission.
