Bulls topped out at $85,000 for another complete clearance, setting up a registered bull average of $16,867 at last weekend's PB Fenech annual spring sale, Sarina.
Once again, the overriding feature of the sale was the large percentage of the offering selling to repeat clientele from across Queensland.
For vendors Paul and Brigid Fenech, PBF stud, Sarina, the breakdown of the offering of 45 registered bulls (av $16,867), their 11 herd bull counterparts hit highs of $25,000 to result in an $8455 average. Eleven registered females topped at $22 000 to an average $8818, for another total clearance of that section, resulting in complete sale average of $14,614 for the entire catalogue.
Don and Julie Hurrell, HH Park stud, Gympie, took the day's top seller, the $85,000 PBF Spitz Manso 899/20 (IVF).
The 25-month-old hit the scales at 1006 kilograms and in the process delivered scans of 13mm and 8mm for P8 and rib fat measurements, 157 square centimetres for eye muscle area and intramuscular fat of 4.7 per cent.
The top seller was offered in a three-quarter share, full possession arrangement.
Spitz Manso was one of nine sons of the US import, JDH Thor Manso 380/6 setting a $33,889 average. His five daughters averaged $9400.
Another feature of the sale was the inclusion of five young bulls with an average age of 16 months. These set an impressive average of $23,200, topping at $40,000.
Next best at $60,000 was sale opener Brussels Manso 854/20 selling to Les and Felicity Rockemer, Gigoomgan stud, Woolooga.
At 25 months, the bull produced raw data of 888kg liveweight, P8 and rib fat measurements of 12mm and 10mm, and an EMA of 145sq cm.
Matthew and Tolita Dolzan, Locklani stud, Glenwood, took another of the Thor sons, Hayes Manso 888/20 (IVF) for $55,000.
Hayes Manso 888/20 at 25 months weighed 934kg with muscle scans including P8 and rib measurements of 12mm and 10mm, an EMA of 144sq cm, and IMF of 5.4pc.
Sue Hammer, Annavale stud, Charters Towers, selected the $45,000 Biondi Manso 948/20 (IVF) (JDH Mr Cash Manso 90/5 (US)). Ten sons of Cash averaged $13,800.
Mal and Sue Burston, Broadlea, Nebo, secured the top selling bull of the younger section of the catalogue, the $40,000 Hall Manso 28/20 (IVF) (Thor Manso) (16-months).
The Burstons picked up a pair for $25,000 average.
Another to select from this section was Richie Hooper, Koonoowarra, Taroom, taking a Thor son, Popov Manso 39/20 (IVF) at $32, 000.
Adding strength to the market were the Goodwin family, Narounyah, Alpha, taking five for a $19,000 average that topped at $30,000 for one of the Thor sons on offer.
Another to return was Don Heatley and family, Byrne Valley Station, Home Hill, taking nine to average $12,000 to top at $16,000 on two occasions.
Paddy Bussey, Gundamere, Nebo, ended with a pair for on average $12,000, while Darcy and Amy Cocks, Bengogo, Duaringa, signed off on three for a $9333 average, and Lawnhill Riversleigh Stations, Mt Isa, took with them five for a $5000 average.
Simon McCaulay-Powell, Stockyard, Marlborough, claimed a trio for a $5000 average.
Taking three and ending with an average price of $16,333 were the Parker family, Clare, Jericho. These topped at $25,000 for a 23-month-old by the retained McCheeko.
Another of the Parker purchases was another by McCheeko of a similar age for $20,000.
Herbert River Holdings, Mingela, was another in the investors collecting four for a $5000 average.
Top heifer was the $22,000 Dawn Manso 148/21 (IVF) (Thor) aged 11 months.
With four retained sisters, the heifer sold to Geoff and Gladys Angel, Glengarry stud, Kunwarara.
Thorpey's Roofing and Plumbing, Yeppoon, picked up the $17,000 (McCheeko) daughter, Cate Manso 59/21 (13 months). Tom and Clare Mifsud and family, Skyview Farming, Clermont, took home four heifers for on average $5250.
Scott Angel, Glengarry stud, Kunwarara, took two for $7000 each. These were Thor and McManus daughters.
Clayton and Brooke Hoch, Vinabel, Alpha, claimed the $24,000 Cash son, Dressel Manso 917/20 (AI), while James and Susan Ball, BF stud, Sarina, outlaid $20,000 for the full brother to PBF Currimundi R Manso 891/21, the 16-month-old Phelps Manso 35/20 (IVF).
The Camilleri family, Homebush took with them two bulls for on average $11,000, topping at $15,000 for a two-year-old son of the homebred Noah Manso 610/11 (IVF) (Sir Gates De Manso).
