It's time for the Charters Towers community to get together and nominate who they would like to see recognised at next years Australia Day Awards.
Featuring eight different categories, the awards celebrate and recognise the valuable contribution individuals, community groups and organisations make to the region.
Mayor Frank Beveridge is encouraging residents to nominate the unsung heroes in the community.
"There are so many people who contribute to the spirit of our Region. They deserve to be recognised for the outstanding roles they play and for being community advocates," he said.
"They are individuals and groups who have excelled in their chosen field; be it sport, arts or culture. We want to acknowledge and reward these outstanding individuals, organisations and groups who are committed to improving our region's lifestyle.
"We need the community to nominate these people, so we can recognise their contributions and say thank you for all their hard work."
Awards that will be featured include; Citizen of the Year; Young Citizen of the Year; Community Event; Sportsperson of the Year; Young Sportsperson of the Year; Sports Administrator of the Year; Cultural Person of the Year, and Young Cultural Person of the Year.
Nominations can be lodged online or in person at the CTRC office, and will be closing on Friday November 19.
All nominees from each category will be invited to attend the Awards Ceremony, which will be held at the World Theatre, Charters Towers, on Wednesday, January 26.
