Quality from the first lot to the last is evident in the 44 lot draft catalogued for the LVH Fairfield Charolais Winton Bull Sale being held at the Winton Saleyards, on Friday, July 23, from 1pm.
The sale, which was first held in 2019, with 47 Fairfield bulls, will see Lindsay and Belinda Hindle, Fairfield Charolais, Roma, unite with Roderick Binny, Glenlea Beef, Coffs Harbour, New South Wales, to offer lines of bulls with growth, carcase yield, extra fat cover and strong maternal traits as they expect many of their existing and new clients will be wanting to retain their Charolais-cross heifers.
Mr Binny said in 2019, the Hindles received great feedback as to the adaptability and calf getting ability of the Fairfield bulls offered.
"Fairfield have been selling at Roma for many years and will return to Winton this year with me, where they'll offer 33 bulls (30 purebred Charolais and three composites), while 11 of my purebred Charolais bulls will be auctioned," he said.
"These bulls have been specifically selected for this sale, with the combined draft being predominantly polled. There will be a couple of different types of bulls to suit different operations."
Mr Binny said while rain had been patchy in the wet season, the falls over Winter have led to most having a confident seasonal outlook.
"This optimism is leading graziers to look for new sires to add to there herds, to take advantage of the best cattle market in 60 years."
He said the extra effort he and the Hindles take to bring their bulls to the buyers in Winton and its surrounding areas has been well received.
"These bull simply work well in the western environment. We've had buyers from across the north-west from Hughenden to Cloncurry and south the Blackall."
Lindsay Hindle said Fairfield clients regularly top weaner sales at Roma and other districts, while obtaining top end of grid rates with plenty of fat cover and extra weight for age.
"We've been now selling bulls over large areas of Queensland for nearly 20 years. Our bulls in the sale draft have deliberately not been overfed as to have them in a sound working condition to turn straight out into the cows without needing to let them down," Mr Hindle said.
"All bulls have been scanned, semen tested and had all necessary veterinary examinations prior to sale. All their vaccinations are up to date which include: 7 in 1, Vibrio, BEF, 3 Germ Blood, AD&E and B12."
Mr Binny said the Glenlea sale team comprises great doing, thick bulls with plenty of fat cover.
"These bulls have easy finishing ability that will pass onto their progeny, we've been selecting for doability and extra fat cover in our Charolais herd for 48 years."
A highlight of the Glenlea draft are the sons of Glenlea Marlo (P) being offered.
"Glenlea attended the Richmond Field Days in early June, where we exhibited and sold two bulls. Glenlea Marlo Q503E topped that sale at $13,000, while the other, slightly younger Marlo son sold for $7000. Five of their half brothers are catalogued for the Winton sale."
All Glenlea bulls will have full EBV's available in the supplementary sheet. They've been semen tested, and vaccinated for 3 day, blooded and botulism, plus 7 in 1 and pesti.
Live bidding will be available through AuctionsPlus.
"Online is great for viewing videos and information pre-sale, but we recommend buyers without a stable internet connection to bid over the phone," Mr Binny said.
