Champion pen of bullocks make $2493 at Charters Towers

The prime cattle consisted of 95 bullocks, 20 heifers, and 49 cows.

The store cattle consisted of 57 steers and 37 heifers.

Cattle comprised of small lines of good quality prime and feeder cattle.

The yarding was drawn from Home Hill, Charters Towers, Belyando and Torrens Creek.

All prices were in line with recent markets.

Steers and bullocks over 500kg topped at 387.2c/kg to average 373.5c/kg.

Heifers under 440kg sold to 342.2c/kg and averaged 336.8c/kg, while heifers over 440kg topped at 342.2c/kg, averaging 342.2c/kg.

Cows over 400kg reached 308.2c/kg, averaging 299.3c/kg.

Bullocks topped at 387.2c/kg for the Champion Pen of Five Export Bullocks sold on a/c Burdekin Downs Pastoral Trust that weighed 644kg to return $2493.57 per head.

Best priced trade heifers were presented on a/c Lisgar Pastoral that sold for 342.2c/kg, weighing 546kg to return $1868.41 per head.

The top pen of cows were sold by GA Warre for 308.2c/kg weighing 634kg to return $1953.99 per head.

Steers 200-320kg sold to 436.2c/kg, averaging 436.2c/kg, steers 320-400kg topped at 400.2c/kg and averaged 395.2c/kg and steers over 400kg sold to 396.2c/kg to average 394.8c/kg.

Heifers 200-320kg sold to 402.2c/kg, averaging 402.2c/kg, heifers 320-370kg made 374.2c/kg to average 370c/kg.

A pen of 15 steers a/c Mt Douglas sold for 436.2c/kg and weighed 280kg, returning an average of $1221.36 per head.

A good pen of 15 heifers on a/c Mt Douglas made 402.2c/kg weighed 273kg, returning $1096.67 per head.
