Roll up, roll up... it's show time!!
What a refreshing feeling it is to be in the midst of the show season once again. When most people think of an agricultural show they think of the food, the rides and all the sideshows that come with it.
But for someone within the agricultural industry it is all about showcasing their year of hard work.
From cattle and horses to all things farming it's a place where you can go and talk to like-minded people and further your education.
I myself am a third generation show supporter and love nothing more then our local show. Now being a Queensland Country Life Showgirl and having represented my community, I have a passion like no other.
The generation before us paved the way and built up an incredible legacy. The Central Highlands show circuit is a prime example of this.
With six shows within the Central Highlands sub-chamber, they each bring something different and unique to make the circuit so successful.
Comet was the first cab off the rank and started the circuit off beautifully. The weather turned it on and brought out those gale force winds that we are known for at show time.
Next was Alpha. After three years of not being able to have a show due to being drought stricken and of course COVID-19 they sure made up for it all. What a marvellous community and committee they have.
Friday saw blue skies and a sneaky breeze for the Capella Show. The cattle judging was the highlight of the day, which was organised so wonderfully, as well as the young farmer's challenge - that was a sight not to be missed!
Last week saw Clermont and Springsure showcase finest their agricultural wears. Then for the grand finale - Emerald will finish off the circuit with bang.
The importance of keeping the legacy of rural shows alive is so crucial to the agriculture sector.
Not only is it a place to display people's livelihoods but it is brilliant for education.
The hard work displayed through the Central Highlands Show circuit is second to none, ensuring that trading and legacy will be carried on with future generations.
