Emerald Agents today yarded just under 2000 head of cattle at Thursday's weekly sale. It was a good quality offering of slaughter and feeder types with few lighter weight cattle on offer due to upcoming special sales.
Heavy bullocks gained in rate making to 396c/kg while steers 500-550kg topped at 415c to average 398c. Feeder types 400-550kg reached 430c with lighter weaner weight steers making to 534c.
Feeder heifers were strong reaching 390c and 350-400kg heifers made to 456c/g, while heifers 280-350kg topped at 484c to average 415c. Heavy slaughter cows reached 296c and averaged 286c. while cows 450-520kg reached 292c. The cows and calves on offer made $2200/unit.
The Esmond family, Lucknow, Emerald, sold Droughtmaster cross bullocks to 353c to weigh 584kg or $2064. Noel and Dallas Daley, Wilford, Willows, sold Brahman steers to 411c to weigh 448kg or $1843. Lake Elphinstone, Nebo, sold Brahman cross steers reaching 448c and weighed 294kg to return $1319.
Rob and Kylie Cunningham, Myrtle Park, Comet, sold Santa cows to 294c to weigh 633kg or $1863. Brad and Briony Comiskey, Barrinja, Yamala, sold Brangus cows to 293c to weigh 648kg and $1900. Rick and Thelma Powell, Warrigal, Mt Coolan, sold Droughtmaster heifers to 484c to weigh 308kg or $1492.
