THE grand champion ribbons in the South Devon ring at Beef 2021 went south of the border to the McDouall family this year.
Rick and Sue McDouall, Kildare Grazing Company, Upper Horton, NSW, took home with the broad ribbons.
The McDoualls' 20-month-old junior male, Kildare Quince (B) and 19-month-old junior female Kildare Sassy 31 (B), won the top titles.
Judge Tammie Robinson, Three Hearts, Brisbane Valley, and her associate judge Grace Thompson, Swan Vale, were impressed with the consistency of the animals on display.
Ms Robinson said she went for the junior male because he was the most even.
"He's got a lot of length and there's a lot of meat in that calf and he's got a really strong top line," she said.
Stud principal Rick McDouall said he would have liked to see more exhibits in the ring, to show a greater representation of the South Devon breed.
