DESPITE the low number of exhibits in the Ausline ring at Beef Australia 2021, the quality of cattle on show certainly were on par with some of the best genetics across the country.
Claiming this year's grand champion bull was a 32-month-old senior bull called Vitulus Positively Red, who is owned and exhibited by Cole Glen stud.
Winning the grand champion female title was Greg and Tracey Nutridge, Krahenbring, Lockyer Waters, with their 17-month-old junior female Mason Farm Classic Diamond.
Judge Tammie Robinson, Three Hearts, Brisbane Valley, said she could see what the breeders were trying to achieve with their cattle's genetics.
"The senior bull I've put up, I think that overall masculinity and being a full-on bull at this time has put him up as grand champion," Ms Robinson said.
"When it came to the females, I've gone with the heifer over the cow because I think she's a lot smoother through those hips and pins.
"The heifer carries that smoothness right through to her front and into her shoulders and for me she was clean winner."
Cole Glen stud also won the exhibitor's class on the day, which Ms Robinson said were worthy of the first place ribbon.
"I spoke to the lady who owns these cattle and you can see what the female is trying to do, you've got a really young heifer to an older cow that I can see many similarities between the two," she said.
