The inaugural Walk-In Wardrobe Yungaburra event continues to grow in popularity, with organisers cautiously optimistic for its success on the Mother's Day weekend on Saturday 8 May.
The Walk-In Wardrobe event was established by group of ladies on weekend trip away back in 2020, with donations from stall holder fees going towards their local Yungaburra Country Women's Association (CWA).
With this year's event fast approaching, event stallholders have a huge range of clothing and accessories for sale including designer, vintage, rockabilly, formal wear and children's clothes.
Event organiser Binny Henricks said the community is very excited, with all 25 stalls sold.
"We wanted to have an event on the Tablelands where people could get together to sell pre-loved clothing," Ms Henricks said.
"We modelled the event on the popular Your Wardrobe event in Cairns, but modified it to suit our Tablelands audience."
Ms Henricks said the Yungaburra Beautification Inc will also be fundraising for their project.
"Clothing and accessories including hats, handbags, jewellery and shoes are for sale, and all sizes are catered for - from tiny to plus sizes," she said.
"It's a real opportunity for chronic op shoppers and anyone keen for a bargain to get their fill and find new treasures in one central location."
Co-organiser Jenni Kruck said that the renew, reuse and recycle aspect was an important concept for the event.
"From a sustainability perspective, Australians send an average 23kg of textiles to landfill per person, each year," Ms Kruck said.
"This is a huge waste and by taking part in this event, you're helping the environment and your wallet.
"Grab your girlfriends or make it a Mother's Day weekend."
The Yungaburra Walk-In Wardrobe will be held at the Yungaburra Community Hall between 9am and 5pm on Saturday 8 May.
Entry to the event is free, thanks to the support from the Yungaburra Association Incorporated.
