UPDATE Friday 12PM: The Gregory Highway at Theresa Creek, 20km north of Emerald has been reduced to a single lane traffic and under escort.
EARLIER FRIDAY 9AM: Flooding has closed the Gregory Highway at Theresa Creek, 20km north of Emerald.
Rainfall totals of more than 200mm were recorded across the Sapphire Gemfields catchments earlier in the week, causing major flooding in the Central Highlands region.
The bridge is currently being monitored by the Central Highlands Council and Transport Main Roads.
The water is slowly subsiding however, it is unknown how long the Highway will be closed.
Central Highlands Police are advising motorist to drive to conditions.

EARLIER Thursday 12PM: RISING flood waters brought on by heavy rainfall in the Sapphire Gemfields is expected to close the Gregory Highway, north of Emerald.
Theresa Creek on the Gregory Highway north of Emerald is expected to rise and close the highway in both directions, late Thursday morning.
It is unknown how long the highway will be closed for at this time.
