Charters Towers Combined agents yarded a total of 1856 cattle, consisting of 567 prime cattle and 1289 store cattle.
The prime cattle consisted of 98 bullocks, 92 heifers, 353 cows and 24 bulls. Store cattle consisted of 662 steers, 572 heifers, 55 cows and calves.
Cattle consisted of some well finished meatworks cattle as well as good lines of Brahman and crossbred store steers and heifers.
The yarding was drawn from the Tablelands, Tully, Ingham, Richmond, Hughenden, Georgetown, local and coastal areas.
Bullocks were quoted 5c easier, heifers were unchanged, cCows were unchanged, and bulls were 5c dearer on last sale's rates.
Prime quotes:
Steers and bullocks under 500kg sold to 386c and averaged 309c, and those over 500kg topped at 368c to average 342c. Heifers over 440kg topped at 350c, averaging 314c. Cows under 400kg made 282c and averaged 220c, while cows over 400kg reached 270c, averaging 233c. Bulls under 450kg made 462c and averaged 406c, while bulls over 450kg reached 350c to average 344c.
Top price pen of bullocks topped at 346.2c for 17 head sold on a/c Matthews Cattle Pty Ltd, that weighed 591kg to return $2044/hd. Best priced trade heifers were presented on a/c Hacon Neila Holdings that sold for 350c, weighing 418kg to return $1461/hd.
The top pen of cows were sold by KA Knuth for 270.2c, weighing 516kg to return $1395/hd. Bulls sold on a/c Hacon Neila Holdings topped at 346.2c and weighed 748kg, to return $2589/hd.

Store cattle were made up of a big run of #0 steers and heifers, with the main run being from 200-280kg. A large percentage of the store cattle were crossbred.
Steers under 200kg reached 550c to average 482c, steers 200 - 320kg sold to 522c, averaging 468c, steers 320 - 400kg topped at 432c and averaged 393c and steers over 400kg sold to 380c to average 363c. Heifers under 200kg topped at 424c and averaged 388c, heifers 200 - 320kg sold to 422c, averaging 369c, and heifers 320 - 370kg made 380c to average 3691c.
A pen of nine crossbred steers a/c E and S Maxwell made 550.2c and weighed 160kg, returning an average of $880/hd. A good pen of 23 crossbred heifers a/c B and K Lehmann made 422.2c, weighed 211kg, returning $890/hd. Twenty cows and calves sold on a/c Hacon Neila Holdings returned $1500/unit.
