Charters Towers Combined Agents yarded a total of 548 cattle on Wednesday, February 17, consisting of 135 prime cattle and 413 store cattle.
The prime cattle consisted of 40 bullocks, one heifer, 80 cows and 14 bulls.
Store cattle consisted of 238 steers, 42 mickeys, 125 heifers and 8 cows and calves.
Cattle comprised of a few pens of bullocks and some fair quality fat cows.
The yarding was drawn from Hughenden, Clermont, Cardwell, Townsville Mt Surprise, as well as local and coastal areas.
Prime Quotes:
Bullocks topped at 364.2/kg for 12 ox sold on a/c Matthews Cattle Pty Ltd that weighed 581kg to return $2115 per head.
The top pen of cows were sold by Clothes Peg Station for 264.2/kg weighing 455kg to return $1202 per head.
Bulls sold on a/c Evergreen Turf topped at 318.2/kg and weighed 530kg to return $1686 per head.

Store cattle consisted of a few small pens of good quality steers, with very few heifers due to the weather conditions.
A pen of 12 steers a/c LA & ML Brazier made 470.2/kg and weighed 178kg, returning $837 per head.
A pen of 11 heifers a/c Townsville Correction Centre made 416.2/kg, weighed 223kg to return $927 per head.
Three cows and calves sold on a/c R & S Bennetto returned $1620 per unit.
