Update 3:20PM: Emergency crews are currently carrying out the delicate operation of separating the prime mover from the trailers.
Once removed, the risk of the ammonium nitrate emulsion igniting will be greatly reduced.
Crews will then take on the lengthy task of emptying the tanks.
Earlier this morning
Police have issued an emergency declaration under the Public Safety Preservation Act after a B-double truck carrying dangerous cargo rolled over on Fitzroy Development Rd, Valkyrie, 53km south of Nebo, at 5.20am this morning.
The exclusion zone encompasses three kilometres around the crash site, including the airspace above as the truck was carrying ammonium nitrate.
Fitzroy Development Road, Valkyrie, is closed between Golf Mine Road and Moranbah road and is likely to remain closed all day.
Traffic is being diverted around the exclusion zone from Peak Downs Hwy and Golden Mile Road.
Members of the public are advised to avoid the area and urged to follow the advice of emergency services on the ground.
The truck driver received only minor injuries.
