New yard records at the Blackall Saleyards are being created weekly at the moment and Thursday's sale was no exception.
Weaner steers weighing below 200kg were sold up to 552 cents per kilogram at the yarding of 1800 head at which all usual buyers were present and operating.
The 164kg Braford steers were sold by OL and CM Jones, The Grove, Winton for 554.2c/kg for a return of $908/head.
One of those benefiting from the lift was the account of RA Russell, Sumnervale, Blackall who sold 300kg Angus steers for 435c/kg, or $1277 a head.
Selling agent Paton Fitzsimons said the No. 0 steers were calves off cows purchased last year that had benefited from good summer feed.
"The Russell family has always liked Angus genetics," he said.
"Instead of taking them through to heavy weight cattle, the market meant they decided to sell now.
"They went to the feedlot for Woolworths product."
The RA Russell account also sold feeder heifer to a top of 360c/kg, weighing 428 kg to return $1542.
Mr Fitzsimons processing competition was extremely strong on fat cattle, bringing 315c/kg for best fat cows.
Prices at the sale lifted 10c/kg on previous weeks for export cows.
There were some very good quality lines of store steers as well as PTIC cows and heifers on offer, which saw strong support from local interstate buyers.
The yarding was drawn from Blackall, Hughenden, Winton, Tambo, Cloncurry, Jericho, Maxwelton, Isisford, Longreach, Muttaburra Aramac, Jundah and Alpha.

LM and LJ Fielder, Oakvale, Aramac sold Droughtmaster cross steers topping at 382.2c/kg weighing 342kg to return $1307.
Brodie Campbell, Leeson, Winton sold Brahman cross weaner steers to 430.2c/kg to weigh 219kg to return $944.
JJ Scully, T/A Ryan Bros, Carlow, Blackall sold quality Santa heifers to average 395.2c/kg to weigh 334kg to return $1321.
Hayfield Pastoral Company, Hayfield, Jundah sold quality Charolais cross heifers to a top of 393.2c/kg weighing 309kg to return $1215.
Drummondslope Cattle Co, Drummondslope, Alpha sold PTIC Angus cross heifers to 390.2c/kg to weigh 387kg to return $1513.
They also had weaner heifers to 378.2c/kg to weigh 335kg to return $1270.
