Mareeba combined agents penned a total of 1497 head at this week's prime and special store cattle sale, an increase of 590 head on the previous week.
Two local processors were present along with three traders and a large gallery of local buyers. Prices remained strong for good quality cattle.
The yarding consisted of 276 steers averaging 317.4c selling to a top of 358.2c, 375 bulls averaging 245.4c selling to a top of 358.2c, 345 cows averaging 178.4c selling to a top of 276.2c, 217 heifers averaging 244.9c selling to a top of 328.2c, 121 yearling heifers averaging 298.6c selling to a top of 392.2c (new saleyard record) and 147 yearling steers averaging 335.1c selling to a top of 404.2c.
