Monto Cattle and Country yarded 538 head for their fortnightly fat and store sale on September 9. Prices increased 44c overall with the average price per head decreasing slightly due to more weaners being offered compared to the previous sale.
Quotes from the day included bulls selling to 269c, bullocks sold up to 331c, cows reached 278c, steers topped at 454c while heifers made 419c.
SA and PK Leahy sold a heavy Charbray bull for 259c to make $2384, with SP and HO Mossman's bulls of various breeds making between 211c and 269c to return up to $2086/hd. CJ and JF Baldwin's heavy Brangus steers made $1542 at 319c.
Salisbury Farming Enterprises offered Droughtmaster cows which averaged 576kg at 278c to make $1603. SP and HO Mossman sold Brahman cows for 230c to 270c to reach $1336.
Heavy store Braford steers offered by KD and AP Wyatte made 365c or $1387. JD Collingwood offered Charbray steers which made 445c to average $1149/hd. O.H. Corral Enterprises offered Charbray cross steers which topped price per kilogram at 454c to return $1180/d. SP and HO Mossman's Droughtmaster Brahman cross weaner steers sold to 445c or $1012. WR and BM Avis penned Droughtmaster weaner steers which realised 445c or $1057.
Aged store conditioned cows and calves (about two months) sold for $1320/unit. Coominglah Grazing's Droughtmaster cross heifers averaging 341kg sold for 362c or $1237. Red Brahman cross heifers weighing 293kg on account of D and J Hopf returned $1075 or 367c.
JA and SN Clarke sold a run of Droughtmaster heifers from 164kg to 240kg to top at 418c or $953. AC and MA Clarke's Droughtmaster cross weaner heifers sold for 419c or $882. WR and BM Avis penned Droughtmaster weaner heifers to realise $1054 or 406c.
