Mareeba combined agents penned a total of 851 head at this week's prime and special store cattle sale, a decrease of 464 head on the previous week.
Two local processors were present along with several traders and a large gallery of local buyers. Prices improved as the sale progressed.
The yarding consisted of 261 steers averaging 291c/kg selling to a top of 344.2c, 302 bulls averaging 263.8c selling to a top of 336.2c, 145 cows averaging 197.5c selling to a top of 270.2c, 69 heifers averaging 239.9c selling to a top of 314.2c, 24 yearling heifers averaging 312c selling to a top of 322.2c and 43 yearling steers averaging 336.1c selling to a top of 357.2c.
