IT was a tragic weekend on remote Far North Queensland roads, with three people dying in separate traffic crashes in the region.
The first victim died after crashing his motorbike at Almaden on the Tablelands on Saturday afternoon.
Police said the man was travelling sound on Almaden Gingrella Road with two other riders when he lost control on an unsealed section of the road about 1pm.
The 62-year-old Manunda man died at the scene, while the two other motorcyclists were not injured.
The same afternoon, a young man died after an ATV buggy he was travelling in rolled near Mount Molloy .
Three people were riding in the buggy when the crash happened on Quaids Road, about 7km east of the Mulligan Highway about 3.45pm.
A Tablelands man aged in his 20s died at the scene.
The two other people were taken to Mareeba Hospital with minor injuries.
Quaids Road is a private bitumen sealed road that has public access and starts opposite the Big Mitchell Creek Reserve.
And on Sunday night, a 16-year-old boy died in a single vehicle traffic crash at Lockhart River.
Police said initial investigations indicate the car was travelling on Lockhart River Mission Road when it lost control and rolled about 8.40pm.
A 16-year-old male passenger was transported to the Lockhart River Health Centre where he died a few hours later.
A 17-year-old male passenger was flown to Cairns Base Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
The 18-year-old male driver and two 16-year-old male passengers were not physically injured.
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating all three fatalities.
