Cloncurry Shire Council has approved an increase of payment for eligible wild dog scalps from $50 to $75.
In order to assist landholders to meet their obligations, Council delivers a coordinated 1080 baiting program twice yearly.
To further assist, Council offers bounties for wild dogs trapped or shot within the Cloncurry Shire.
At the June 16 meeting Council resolved to increase the wild dog bounty in the 2020-21 financial year as part of its Biosecurity Plan and to complement its Coordinated 1080 baiting Program.
"Agriculture is a major industry in Cloncurry and the decision to increase the wild dog bounty is the start of a number of pest control initiatives Council is rolling out within the Shire. It is essential that we support landholders to control a legitimate threat to their livestock operations" Mayor Campbell said.
