There were 3660 cattle yarded at Charters Towers store sale on Friday.

Charters Towers combined agents yarded a total of 3660 cattle, consisting of 1604 steers, 1724 heifers and 172 cows and calves.

The yarding was drawn from Cloncurry, Tablelands, Croydon, coastal and local areas and there were some good lines of heavy steers and a large yarding of heifers.

Steers under 200kg reached 398.2c to average 380.8c, steers 200 - 320kg sold to 402.2c, averaging 338.1c, steers 320 - 400kg topped at 360.2c and averaged 327.5c and steers over 400kg sold to 350.2c to average 322.3c. Mickeys under 400kg sold to 376.2c, averaging 334c. Heifers under 200kg topped at 348.2c and averaged 298.7c, heifers 200 - 320kg sold to 332.2c, averaging 293.6c, and heifers 320 - 370kg made 338.2c to average 314c.

A pen of heavy feeder weight steers a/c Colinta Holdings made 348.2c, weighing 394kg, returning $1372.32/hd. A pen of 16 steers a/c JLV Pastoral made 402.2c, weighing 218kg, returning an average of $877/hd.

A good pen of 26 heifers on a/c R D Burgess made 348.2c, weighing 196kg returning an average of $683/hd. 40x40 cows and calves sold on a/c S and M Christensen, returned $1325/unit. Mickey bulls a/c RJ and AJ Christensen made 376.2c, weighing 211kg, returning $793.78.
