JOCKEY David Rewald will be his own boss in every sense of the word when he goes to the Longreach races on June 27.
Rewald, a more than capable rider, will compete in each of the six events - for himself.
While riding has been the Blackall-based Rewald's racing mainstay for numerous years, he also holds a trainer's licence and his Longreach rides - Sassy Style, You're Not Wanted, Wicked Woody, Mishnah, Surprise Selection and Benchi Pegasus - are part of his stable.
Sassy Style (Hidden Dragon-Tranquility Base) is to run in the Longreach vet Services Maiden (1000m).
A four-year-old, Sassy Style has been placed five times in 18 starts and her latest run was an improved effort for a fourth place finish in Barcaldine on June 13.
In the Ballard Family Appreciation Benchmark 50 (1000m) Rewald has accepted with You're Not Wanted (Wanted-Bruges). You're Not wanted has paid for a last start Barcaldine win in a Class B with a weight rise of 3.5kg to 60.5kg.
Eight-year-old Wicked Woody (Wicked Style-Josh's Gift) returns to Longreach for the time this year in the Col Anderson Memorial (1000m).
He previously raced at Longreach in November when fourth in the similar event at his 14th run on the track. The other 13 runs produced four wins and six placings.
Mishnah (Kingston Rule-Happy Henrietta) is also a winner on the course and is fancied in the Gordon "Popeye" Saunders Memorial (1200m).
He is the topweighted runner with 63.5kg.
Mishnah won a Class 5 in Longreach in early May and has since run third of eight there on May in a 1600m event won by Heroism.
Form students believe Surprise Selection (Eurozone-She's Best) has the necessary credentials to feature in the Peter Anderson Appreciation Class B (1400m).
From 16 runs he has won or placed on seven occasions. Has managed placings in two runs after winning a maiden in Barcaldine in March and last time at the races Surprise Selection was a tidy third in Class B company.
Benchi Pegasus (Floral Pegasus-First Testament) rises 5.5kg to 62.5kg on his latest run when eighth to country marvel Fab's Cowboy in $10,000 dash at Roma on June 20.
