Combined agents of CQLX yarded a total of 2191 head on Wednesday, comprising 1024 steers, 735 heifers, 380 cows, 30 bulls and 24 cows and calves.
A mixed quality yarding was presented with the usual panel of buyers operating. Bullocks sold to a much dearer trend with exporters securing big lines. The cow market sold to a firm trend with re-stockers lifting the store market.
Feeder cattle were able to retain high prices due to reduced numbers. Store cattle were met with strong competition, being very active. Cows and calves sold to a firm trend.
Slaughter steers sold to 365c, average 344c, steers 400-500kg made 378c, average 349c, steers 300-400kg reached 372c, average 341c, steers 200-300kg made 438c, average 379c and steers under 200kg sold to 400c, average 360c.
Slaughter cows sold to 323c, average 264c, cows 400-450kg made 317c, average 256c, cows 320-400kg reached 280c, average 229c, and cows under 320kg made 234c, average 230c.
Heavy heifers sold to 358c, average 324c, heifers 300-400kg made 354c, average 321c, heifers 200-300kg reached 366c, average 314c, and heifers under 200kg made 366c, average 342c.
Cows and calves sold to $1875/unit, average $1594/unit.
Bulls over 600kg made 370c, average 303c, bulls 450-600kg reached 370c, average 322c and bulls under 450kg sold to 380c, average 341c.
