Emerald Agents yarded just over 1100 head of cattle on Thursday, comprising mainly slaughter types with limited feeder and weaner weight cattle on the back of the large yarding earlier in the week.
Quality was fair to good in the slaughter categories while a lesser quality offering was evident in the lighter cattle.
Heavy bullocks over 550kg topped at 390c/kg to average 353c, while steers 500-550kg reached 393c and averaged 350c, 400-500kg steers made to 390c to average 351c, with steers 350-400kg reaching 389c to average 309c, while all lighter steer categories were too few to reliably quote.
Heifers over 400kg topped at 373c to average 330c, while heifers 350-400kg topped at 355c and averaged 303c. Heavy cows over 520kg topped at 283c to average 272c, while cows 450-520kg reached 276c to average 265c.
Reinald Flohr, Wotonga, Nebo, sold Droughtmaster cross steers to 393c to weigh 500kg or $1969. Stew and Di Jeppesen, OliveVale, Comet, sold Charbray cross cows to 280c to weigh 584kg or $1637.
The Backus family, Nardoo, Emerald, sold Brangus cross cows making to 270c to weigh 495kg and $1338. Bill and Estelle Daniels, Stonybrook, Springsure, sold Santa steers to 381c to weigh 664kg and returned $2531.
