Mareeba combined agents penned a total of 1145 head at this week's prime and special store cattle sale, an increase of 875 head on the previous week.
One local processor was present along with a couple of traders and a strong gallery of local buyers. Prices improved across the board for good quality cattle.
The yarding consisted of 302 steers averaging 274c/kg selling to a top of 330.2c, 101 bulls averaging 251.6c selling to a top of 310.2c, 229 cows averaging 210.9c selling to a top of 267.2c, 189 heifers averaging 253.2c selling to a top of 298.2c, 121 yearling heifers averaging 263c selling to a top of 310.2c, 201 yearling steers averaging 304c selling to a top of 348.2c and two cows and calves sold for $890/unit.
