This year's Cloncurry Stockman's Challenge has been postponed by two months.
The Committee of the Cloncurry Stockman's Challenge & Campdraft, one of Australia's greatest annual horse events, said they have made the tough decision to postpone the 2020 event due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Committee said the Challenge which was due to be held July 8-12 would now be held September 9 to 13, subject to review and final confirmation on August 1.
With 300 competitors and visitors from across the country at the Cloncurry Equestrian Centre, it remains the Committee's intention to run a full five-day program.
However Cloncurry Stockman's Challenge & Campdraft Association President Cheyne Williams said this would be dependent on how the pandemic and restrictions develop over the next few months and competitors, visitors, sponsors, volunteers and community safety was paramount.
"With competition rules placing restrictions on the age of competitors horses, the Committee have made the decision to extend eligibility to any horse that would have been eligible to compete to the new forecast September date."
