Charters Towers combined agents yarded a total of 3119 head at Wednesday's sale.
Cattle consisted of 1536 prime cattle and 1583 store cattle. The prime cattle consisted of 220 bullocks, 288 heifers, 805 cows and 223 bulls. Store cattle consisted of 879 steers, 647 heifers and 57 cows and calves.
Cattle comprised smaller lines of covered bullocks, while most of the cows presented with a good amount of cover. Both bullocks and cows sold to good competition from the four processors who were present.
The yarding was drawn from Georgetown, Forsayth, Einasleigh, Greenvale, Belyando, Hughenden, as well as local and coastal areas.

Bullocks were quoted 8-10c dearer, heifers were 3-5c dearer, cows were 8-10c dearer and bulls were 6c easier compared to last week's rates.
Steers and bullocks under 500kg sold to 317.2c and averaged 280.4c, and those over 500kg topped at 319.2c to average 304.4c. Heifers under 440kg sold to 290.2c and averaged 239c, while heifers over 440kg topped at 280.2c, averaging 280.2c. Cows under 400kg made 244.2c and averaged 183.3c, while cows over 400kg reached 250.2c, averaging 231.6c. Bulls under 450kg made 272.2c and averaged 252.7c, while bulls over 450kg reached 320.2c to average 283.3c.
Bullocks topped at 317.2c, sold on a/c Mt Douglas Pastoral Co, weighing 600kg to return $1903/hd.
Best priced trade heifers were presented on a/c Big Country Helicopters, that sold for 290.2c and weighed 415kg to return $1204/hd.
The top pen of cows were sold by Cargoon Qld Pty Ltd, for 250.2c and weighed 545kg to return $1364/hd.
Bulls sold on a/c KJ and SH Boyd topped at 320.2c and weighed 573kg, to return $1834/hd.

Store cattle consisted of good quality smaller lines of steers and heifers that sold to healthy competition from restockers, feedlots and processors.
Steers under 200kg reached 318.2c to average 288.4c, steers 200 - 320kg sold to 332.2c, averaging 285.5c, steers 320 - 400kg topped at 330.2c and averaged 280.7c and steers over 400kg sold to 255c to average 247.9c. Heifers under 200kg topped at 238.2c and averaged 221.3c, heifers 200 - 320kg sold to 262.2c, averaging 228.4c, heifers 320 - 370kg made 247.2c to average 226.7c, and heifers over 370kg topped at 246.2c, averaging 212.1c.
A pen of seven steers a/c ET Walsh made 332.2c and weighed 291kg, to return an average of $967/hd.
A good pen of 15 heifers on a/c Kanda NT P/L made 260.2c, weighed 293kg and returned an average of $762/hd. 25 cows and calves sold on a/c TN and LE Bethel returned $810/unit.
