Emerald agents yarded just over 3300 head at the weekly sale on March 26, numbers slightly less than the previous week's offering.
A quality yarding was on offer with some larger drafts of both feeder and weaner cattle.
Heavy bullocks over 550kg topped at 309c/kg to average 305c, while steers 500-550kg reached 319c to average 304c, 400-500kg steers made to 346c to average 315c, with 350-400kg types reaching 376c to average 319c. Steers in the 280-350kg range made to 392c to average 324c, while steers in the weaner weights ranges topped at 395c to average 329c.
Heavy heifers over 400kg topped at 313c to average 286c, heifers 350-400kg topped at 339c to average 304c, while heifers 280-350kg topped at 340c to average 297c, and heifers in the weaner weight ranges made to 347c to average 290c.
Heavy cows reached 275c to average 253c, while 450-520kg cows topped at 268c to average 237c.
There was a mixed line of cows and calves, with the exception of one pen of large frame Charolais cows and calves making $2100/unit.
French and Brimblecombe families, Dalkeith, Capella, sold Droughtmaster cross cows making to 246c to weigh 545kg or $1343. Dean Eyles, Capella, sold Brangus steers to 319c to weigh 472kg or $1507.
The Galloway family, Barrain, Blackwater, sold Braford heifers making to 310c to weigh 360kg or $1117. John and Cheryl Randell, Crinum, Tieri, sold Brahman cows to 267c and weighed 550kg to return $1469.
