Cattle numbers from Queensland totalled 8158 head offered online on AuctionsPlus last week, up 5000 on the previous week.
Records were smashed on AuctionsPlus with the weaner and yearling sale seeing 13,886 head offered nationally while the Eastern States sale saw 3963 head offered for a combined 17,849, up 7006 from the previous week's sales.
Southern Queensland bought the majority of the cattle, with 3110 heading there. Nationally PTIC heifers saw another jump in the market, rising $55 to an average of $1721. Clearance was at 60 per cent and prices ranged from $1300 to $2350.
Steers under 200kg saw a decent jump in the market, increasing 119c/kg from this time last month. They ranged from 411-669c/kg and averaged at 507c/kg.
Across the platform steers 200-280kg saw the average up 105c/kg from this time in January. The average was at 471c/kg and ranged from 368-549c/kg. From Cunnamulla, a line of Charolais/Droughtmaster steers sold for 461c/kg and weighed in at 264kg.
Up 92c/kg over the month, the 280-330kg steer category ranged from 345-486c/kg and averaged 421c/kg. A line of 52 Santa Gertrudis backgrounder steers from Taroom weighing 285kg sold for 455c/kg.
Steers 330-400kg were up 78c/kg from this time last month, to average 404c/kg, ranging from 338-456c/kg. The top priced lot from Big Springs in the Riverina, NSW were 49 backgrounder steers weighing 349kg selling for 456c/kg into southern Qld.
Heifers under 200kg were up 39c/kg on this time a month ago with the average at 429c and ranging from 323-613c/kg. The top Queensland lot sold for 478c/kg and weighed 188kg for a/c Carabar Angus, Meandarra.
Heifers 200-280kg had the biggest jump in price over the past four weeks with the average up 105c being 413c/kg and ranging 303-557c/kg. A line of Droughtmaster heifers, 8-10 months, 230kg from Meandarra sold for 415c/kg.
SHEEP
Sheep and lamb number numbers from Queensland rose by 8000 head to see 9942 head offered, including 1400 goats. Merino wether lambs sold for $101 to $182, averaging $140, down $3, while Merino wether hoggets sold from $150 to $217, averaging $167, up $12.
From Longreach, a line of Dunambral blood wethers, aged 15 to 16 months, weighing 45kg with a 2.5" skin sold for $168.
Shedding lambs sold from $147 to $175, averaging $166. The top price went to a line of Dorper wether lambs from Francvillers Past Co, Cunnamulla. These lambs are Aug/Sep '19 drop and weigh 40kg.
On the goat market the does weighing 19kg sold for $133 and the mixed sex goats weighing 16kg sold for $100.
