The large gains in prices experienced in recent weeks lifted the supply of stock at Dalby on February 19 to almost double the previous week's level to 8179 head.
Overall quality was generally good and the trend of large numbers of supplementary fed lines continued.
Buyer attendance was good and included the usual export and feeder operators, plus an increased number of restocker buyers.
Light weight yearlings returning to the paddock lifted in price by 48c/kg. Yearlings steers to feed for the domestic market averaged 18c/kg better. Heavy weight yearlings steers to feed averaged 20c/kg dearer.
Apart from a few dearer sales yearling heifers generally sold close to the improved prices of the previous week.
Cows experienced a mixed trend with poor condition lines to restockers improving in price by 14c to 30c/kg. However cows to processors received price reductions of 17c to 33c/kg.
Steer calves to restockers made to 482.2c to average 462c, and heifer calves made to 430c/kg. Light weight yearlings steers returning to the paddock made to 463c, with a large number averaging 436c/kg.
Yearlings steers to feed for the domestic market made to 448c to average 421c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers to feed made to 430c with a very large sample averaging 403c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed made to 408c to average 391c/kg.
Light weight yearling heifers made to 396c to average 359c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed made to 390c, with a very large selection averaging 372c/kg. Heavy weight yearling heifers to feed made to 385c to average 363c/kg.
Light weight poor condition cows returning to the paddock averaged 248c, with the occasional sale to 262c/kg. Medium weight poor condition cows returning to the paddock averaged 260c, and made to 286c/kg.
Medium weight 2 scores to processors averaged 242c and made to 259c/kg. Good heavy cows were well supplied and made to 301.2c to averaged 285c/kg. Heavy bulls made a 336.2c.
