EMERALD rider Ellysa Kenny is only 18 but is aiming for her third all around cowgirl title at the Warwick Rodeo Australian Professional Rodeo Association National Finals in October.
On Friday, she will compete at the Tumbarumba Blaze of Glory Rodeo in NSW and then at the Narrandera Rodeo on Saturday.
The Tumbarumba Rodeo is at 4pm Friday at the Tumbarumba Showgrounds and the Narrandera Rodeo starts at 6.30pm Saturday at the Narrandera Rodeo Grounds.
Kenny won her first all around cowgirl title at age 15 in 2017 and recorded a second all around win at the age of 17 last year.
This season she is fourth in the all around and barrel racing standings and 38th in breakaway roping.
Her best performances this season are seconds in barrel racing at Wilmington in SA and Alexandra in Victoria.
It is likely Kenny will move up the breakaway roping standings and be in the top 15 by the end of September and qualify for the national finals in barrel racing and breakaway roping.
Last weekend, she was placed in both events at a rodeo at Wagga Wagga Rodeo in NSW.
"Ellie Gard (NSW) is the toughest to beat in barrel racing this season and Jane Ryan (Qld) has been consistent in breakaway roping," Kenny said.
Kenny's third event in the APRA is team roping and she combined with her brother Jayden Kenny for fourth at the K Ranch Rodeo in NSW in early January.
Before graduating to senior ranks, Kenny was a prolific junior title winner.
She has competed around the country and rates the Bowen River Rodeo in North Queensland and her hometown rodeo at Emerald as her favourites.
Kenny has a best of 2.05 seconds in breakaway roping at Blackwater in Central Queensland.
This season, Victorian rider Elley Corney leads the all around cowgirl standings from fellow Victorian Leslie Moore.
Karen Fish Jnr from Tasmania, is third, Kenny fourth and Victorian cowgirl Julie Breed fifth.
While there are rough stock events and the barrel race at Tumbarumba on Friday, all eight APRA championship events are on the program for Narrandera this Saturday.
