A total of 184 outstanding Angus and Senegus bulls from four leading studs are locked in for the Australian Topstock Barcaldine Bull Sale being held at the Barcaldine Saleyards from 10am on Friday, March 6.
The New South Wales and Victorian based vendors will make the journey north for the sale with 130 Angus bulls and 54 red and black Senegus bulls for Queensland buyers to expand and strengthen their herd genetics with, right on their doorstep.
Sale coordinator James Lilburne, Australian Topstock said the quality of the bulls offered at the sale has remained consistently high over the years.
"New sale vendors, the Vivers family of Eaglehawk Angus, Glen Innes, NSW, are bringing a very good run of 16 to 17 month old bulls which are ideally suited for heifers," Mr Lilburne said.
"As usual the balance of the draft will consist of exceptional bulls from the Bulle family, Ardrossan Angus, Talmalmo, NSW, The Gadd family, The Glen Angus, Walwa, Vic, and The Close family, Kurra-Wirra Red Angus and Senegus, Culla, Vic," he said.
Mr Lilburne said the sale agents have received a fair bit of interest for the sale already from Queensland producers.
"It would seem that the recent rain has helped to improve confidence for the year ahead. This will be the first time that the grass will be green at Barcaldine in the sales' six year history there."
He said the sale has remained popular among Qld bull buyers since it was first established.
"The quality of the bulls has remained strong, and the sale has provided exceptional value through the dry times.
"We've managed to keep the sale going through thick and thin which is a reflection on the dedication show by the vendors. As long as even one person in the region wants bulls we'll keep running the sale."
In adverse seasonal conditions at the 2019 sale, 139 bulls sold for a total gross of $511,000.
Mr Lilburne said almost all the bulls catalogued for the 2020 sale will be penned at the saleyards five days prior to the sale, and can be inspected at that time by calling him. Inspections can also be carried out on sale day morning from 8am.
Elite Livestock Auctions will be livestreaming the sale with online bidding available for those unable to attend the sale in person.
The catalogue is now available to view online on the Australian Topstock website and supplementary sheets will be provided by individual vendors on the day of the sale.
