CYCLONE Uesi is shaping up as having limited impact on the Australian mainland, with the Category 3 storm predicted to now head in a more southerly direction.
The latest update from the Fiji Meteorological Service shows Cyclone Uesi weakening into a Category 2 storm today then a Category 1 system tomorrow, before becoming a low pressure system on Friday.
On its predicted path Uesi would pass near Lord Howe Island on Friday, and begin veering in a slightly south easterly direction.
Heavy swells may be experienced on the eastern Australian coastline.
Meanwhile, the Bureau of Meteorology's eight day forecast continues to show good rain over southern eastern Queensland across the Darling Downs and Burnett through to the Central Coast.
Falls of up to 25-50mm are also shown for much of North Queensland and the Peninsula.
