Mareeba Combined Agents penned a total of 291 head at this week's prime and store cattle sale.
Two local processors were present along with one major processor, a couple of traders and a good gallery of local buyers.
The first sale for the year saw records for steers and cows broken with a very strong demand for both slaughter and stores.
The yarding consisted of 94 steers averaging 328c/kg selling to a top of 355c (new sale record), 41 bulls averaging 273c selling to a top of 325c, 37 cows averaging 257c selling to a top of 318c (new sale record), 40 heifers averaging 268c selling to a top of 315c, 39 yearling heifers averaging 270c selling to a top of 297c and 40 yearling steers averaging 315c selling to a top of 360c.
