RECENT rain boosted the spirits of vendors and buyers alike at day one of the Big Country Brahman Sale at Charters Towers today.
Handy rain had fallen in areas across Northern and Central Queensland in the last 10 days, with the potential monsoon onset the talk of many at the sale.
Red Brahman bulls and females went under the hammer on Monday, February 3, with bidders keeping up a consistent pace.
In total, 99 red bulls sold to gross $860,500 to average $8,690.
Brian and Cindy Hughes, Lanes Creek, achieved the top price of the day with Lanes Creek Rainman 2182 (P) which sold for $54,000 to David Dunn, Somerton Red Brahmans.
Females also sold well, with the first lot off the mark, Moongool Miss 291 (P) selling for a sale top of $10,500.
