Parts of the Barkly Highway between Mount Isa and Cloncurry are receiving a facelift, with resealing works underway.
Transport and Main Roads started works on the Barkly Hwy last week and are expected to be finished in early December, weather permitting.
A TMR spokesperson said they were conducting annual programmed maintenance across the district.
"These sealing works are one of two packages that will be delivered before Christmas and form part of our Maintenance and Preservation Program, which are both state and federally funded," the spokesperson said.
"Various other locations across the district have been resealed in this package including sections of the Barkly Highway between Mount Isa and Camooweal, Karumba Developmental Road, Burke Developmental Road and Gregory-Camooweal Road.
TMR said the final section to be resealed under this package would be the Cloncurry-Dajarra Road.
"The safety of all road users is the department's number one priority," the spokesperson said.
"Motorists are reminded to stay calm, stay safe, and drive to the conditions."
