Mareeba combined agents penned a total of 637 head at this week's prime and store cattle sale.
Numbers decreased by 24 head on the previous week. The quality of bullocks, cows and local trade cattle was very good with most values firm on the previous week.
Local trade heifers were back 14c, local trade cows were up 2c on last week. Bullocks suitable for local trade eased by 5c, cows suitable for slaughter improved 7c and bulls suitable for slaughter remained firm and topped at 300c to be 6c dearer on last week.
The yarding consisted of 227 bulls averaging 195.2c selling to a top of 300.2c, 121 cows averaging 208.5/kg selling to a top of 255.2c (best money for 2019), 90 heifers averaging 212.8c selling to a top of 242.2c, 165 steers averaging 250.1c selling to a top of 305c.kg, 15 yearling heifers averaging 199.4c selling to a top of 211.2c and 19 yearling steers averaging 238.7c selling to a top of 261.2c.
