Cloncurry saddle bronc rider Luke Chaplain will return to Australia after experiencing huge success on the international rodeo circuit.

Chaplain left his hometown of Cloncurry in August to progress his professional rodeo career by competing in rodeos in America and Canada.

With the season wrapping up for the year, Chaplain will return to Australia but it's not without success.

In October, Chaplain obtained a new buckle after winning the rodeo at the Festival Western de Saint-Tite in Quebec in Canada.

He also finished runner up at Manitoba Finals Rodeo in Canada.

"My last rodeo was in Toronto last weekend, where I won a round and finished third in the average," Chaplain said.

"It's been great. There's a good crew of other Aussies over here doing well."

Despite starting late in the 2019 season Chaplain is happy with his results and plans to make further progress next season.

"I'm looking forward to coming back home to warmer weather in a few weeks, before I return to America again in April 2020 for the full rodeo season," he said.

"I've ordered a new saddle and plan to improve on a few things before next season but can't wait to come back and see how far I can go."
