Numbers reduced slightly to just over 1600 head at last week's Emerald Sale. All feeder and slaughter categories experienced a solid lift on the back of the previous week's rates, while weaner and lightweight store classes lost ground slightly as the dry holds out.
Heavy bullocks over 550kg topped at 339c to average 327c, with steers 500-550kg topping at 330c to average 325c, steers 400-500kg reached 323c to average 299c, steers 280-350kg topped at 305c to average 270c, while steers in the weaner weight ranges made to 275c to average 236c.
Heifers over 400kg topped at 309c to average 290c, while heifers 350-400kg made to 287c to average 267c, with the weaner portion making to 260c to average 231c.
Cows over 520kg topped at 284c to average 279c, while 450-520kg types topped at 279c to average 272c. The cows and calves on offer made to $1020/unit.
Highlights: The Bradley family, Lindley Downs, Springsure, sold Brangus steers to 306c to weigh 415kg or $1272. The Reinke family, Dawnside, Capella, sold a line of Brahman cross heifers with the best making to 253c to weigh 284kg or $720.
The Flohr family, Wotonga, Moranbah, sold Droughtmaster cross cows reaching 285c to weigh 612kg and returned $1746. John O'Brien, Oklahoma, Capella, sold Droughtmaster cross cows to 254c to weigh 541kg and returned $1376.
Ian and Terri Grayson, Native Bee, Emerald, sold Brangus cross cows making to 257c and weighed 517kg to return $1330.
