REPEAT buyers anchored a "totally satisfying" result for Telpara Hills, Upper Barron via Atherton, at the Rockhampton National Brangus Female Sale on October 14.
Trevor and Maureen Pearce, along with their children, presented six heifers for sale at the Central Queensland Livestock Exchange, Gracemere, and sold the lot.
Their 100 per cent clearance returned an average of $9916 with a ceiling of $13,000, which was also the benchmark for the day.
The auction generated total sales of $168,750 for an average of $3668 for the 46 heifers offered and sold, marking a 100 per cent clearance.
Interestingly, a majority of the Telpara Hills heifers are returning to familiar territory after the Tablelands-based producers Wayne and Kellie Dobe, CPR Brangus, Ravenshoe, and Wetherby Station, Tolga, signed for 66 per cent of the draft.
The Dobes bought the two most expensive heifers in the Telpara Hills consignment, spending $13,000 on Telpara Hills Miss Big Town 920N29 (P) and $11,500 for Telpara Hills Miss Foundation 15N2 (P).
Mr Dobe said there was plenty to admire about both heifers and CPR Brangus was well aware of the genetics.
"We have been buying their lines for a long time and the genetics work very well for us so it was a good outcome," he said.
Miss Big Town, according to the sale catalogue, was "well-fleshed, immaculate underline, quiet and an exquisite breeding prospect" as a daughter of BWCC Big Town 192816 (P) whose sons sold for as much as US$100,000 this year.
Miss Foundation had impressive estimated breeding values of +24 for 200-day weight gain, +51 for 400WT and +53 600WT and is a maternal half-sister to a female which sold $60,000.
Fiona Pearce, speaking for the family, said they were "super happy" with the outcome of the sale.
"We expected it to be a buyers market and not a vendors market," she said.
"We have really pushed hard to make Telpara Hills cattle predictable in performance and are proven drivers within the industry.
"We are very happy that some of the heifers are going back to the Tablelands and these are repeat buyers."
