Mareeba combined agents penned a total of 301 head at this week's prime and store cattle sale.
Numbers decreased by 186 head on the previous week. Values for local trade heifers improved by 19c/kg. Local trade cows remained firm to 2c cheaper. Bullocks suitable for slaughter rose to be 4c dearer on last week. Bulls suitable for slaughter didn't hit the top of last week, back 19c.
The yarding consisted of 41 steers averaging 230c selling to a top of 292c, 121 bulls averaging 157c selling to a top of 272c, 97 cows averaging 200c selling to a top of 227c, 25 heifers averaging 223c selling to a top of 252c, seven yearling heifers averaging 174c selling to a top of 182c and nine yearling steers averaging 150c and topping at 202c.
Good well finished cattle are selling well with plenty of competition.
