NSW Farmers is shining a spotlight on farmers' mental wellbeing with a series of panel discussions at the state's major field days.

The third in the series of forums will be held at Australian National Field Days on Thursday, October 24, at 11am at The Land site.

The forums - We're Off And Running For Mental Health - are a partnership between NSW Farmers and The Land, with informed advice from Rural Adversity Mental Health Program (RAMHP) co-ordinators, RU OK? ambassadors and other mental health providers.

NSW Farmers president James Jackson has participated in all of the forums - held at AgQuip, Henty Machinery Field Days and now ANFD.

The panel discussions are filmed and appear on www.theland.com.au for all farmers to access.

Mr Jackson said the forums aimed to send a message to farmers in NSW about how and where to access assistance to maintain good mental health.

"Talking to family, friends and neighbours is important, but some conversations are too big for that and need some expertise," Mr Jackson said.

"There are a range of mental health services like RAMHP, the DPI Rural Support workers and R U OK? out there that are playing a critical role, particularly amid a devastating drought."

The second video in the series focused on combating stressful decision-making during difficult times.

The forum discussed how it's ok to not feel ok; that seeking assistance is a positive step and shows resilience, can-do, strength; and that support is available - it's like keeping a first-aid kit on the farm.

The theme for the third panel discussion centres on where and how to get help once the need is recognised.

The forum will be facilitated by The Land journalist Mark Griggs.
