Slaughter types experienced a marginal lift in rate at Emerald on Thursday.

Numbers increased to just under 1900 offered at Emerald on Thursday. Slaughter types again experienced a marginal lift in rate, while feeder and light weight ranges struggled to maintain the previous week's prices, the exception being better quality weaner weight heifers as store buyers realise their potential.

Heavy bullocks over 550kg topped at 299c/kg an increase of 24c from previous weeks, 400-500kg steers reached 285c to average 260c, with steers 350-400kg making to 276c to average 252c, 280-350kg steers topped at 276c, with weaner weight steers making to 278c to average 246c.

Heifers 350kg and heavier lost ground up to 6-7c, while heifers 280-350kg sold to 232c to average 210c, while the weaner weight portion sold to 221c to average 199c.

Heavy cows saw a lift with the best to 228c to average 216c, while cows 450-520kg topped at 230c to average 199c. A small lot of cows and calves made to $600/unit.

The Daniels family, Stonybrook, Fernless, sold Santa bullocks to 299c to weigh 634kg or $1896. Peter and Jenny Pocock, Highlands Plains, Dysart, sold Brahman cross bullocks to 290c to weigh 585kg and returned $1699.

The Daniels family, Ivy Vale, Gindie, sold Droughtmaster cross steers to 265c to weigh 426kg or $1130. The Perry family, Glendon, Emerald, sold Droughtmaster heifers to 228c to weigh 383kg or $875. Gavin and Julie Vallis, JoJo, Alpha, sold Brahman cows to 218c to weigh 588kg or $1283.
