Mareeba combined agents penned a total of 480 head at this week's prime and store cattle sale.
Numbers decreased by only 12 head on the previous week. Values improved and the quality of the yarding was much better than last week.
The sale average was up by 32c/kg and the average head value increased by $196. The yarding consisted of 81 steers averaging 218c/kg selling to a top of 268c/kg, 57 bulls averaging 218c/kg selling to a top of 270c/kg, 162 cows averaging 161c/kg selling to a top of 201c/kg, 58 heifers averaging 177c/kg selling to a top of 203c/kg.
The usual group of buyers were in attendance plus one extra trader helped values improve.
